NEW Track, “From Beneath”

I have uploaded a new track called From Beneath to the Stereo Stargazer Bandcamp site!

My goal is to complete a 5-6 song instrumental EP consisting of all new material. In other words, the single tracks I upload will not be a part of it. Everyone, including myself, hates the repackaging of material they’ve already had access to. I refuse to follow in what much—if not all—of the dying music industry continues to practice. So, any release of mine will be of new music. Fuck the record labels.

Brooklyn Lager IPA Kicks Ass.

I’m halfway finished with scoring a short film that is narrated by Jason Schwartzman. I am also working on finishing up another one of my instrumental tracks, but I’d like to get a bit philosophical with you—if you wouldn’t mind.
The more films I write music for, the more I realize how truly symbiotic the visual and audio senses really are. I think we all are aware of this in the obvious sense, yet I have developed a whole new look upon it. I have found that the music I write for a single scene can vastly sway the viewer’s emotions with equal weight as much as the creator of the film does. My proof of this lies within myself: I have to watch every scene (eventually an entire film) to understand what the director is looking for, before I can write music for their film. I am visually persuaded first, before I create the sound to persuade you next.
For those of you who are keen to the way music can enhance or change the way you interpret emotion: I am simply imploring that it is experienced by the creators as well.

The Dom Mazzetti Song

I wake up every day around 8:30am and my GMail account is flooded with e-mails about the song at the end of Mike n’ Gian’s sketches. Well, here’s the deal:
As far as the “song” goes, it is currently in “loop” form. By this, I mean: it is only consists of about 12-15 seconds of true content and repeats for about 45 seconds. But—and I’m serious!—I am currently crafting it into a full song. So, for all of you that continue to e-mail me about it; have no shame in doing so, but know that I am working on getting you a worthy release!

Mike n’ Gian, Greener Media and Stuff…

I recently quit the band I started, Senses Fail, to attend college full-time here in NYC. No more traveling around the world with my guitar for me; my days are filled with calculus and political science lectures now. Although, I will always continue to write and record music with any free time I acquire.

As the music industry quickly sinks, my life change has led me to find a new boat to ride on. It has opened many new doors that otherwise wouldn’t have been. As I now have the ability to abide by my own schedule and decisions, I have begun writing and scoring music for various projects.

One of these projects is that of comedy-duo, Mike n’ Gian, who have created a character named Dom Mazzetti. The music you hear during and at the end of their videos is made specifically for Mike n’ Gian upon request. It’s a ton of fun going outside the boundaries of my normal style of music composition. So, check them out as they post a new skit every week! (http://www.facebook.com/MIKEandGIAN)

Another project I will be working on will start later next week. I am writing and recording the score for an independent documentary called Common Ground and is by Greener Media over in Brooklyn, NY. The documentary tells about the human-elephant conflict in post-cival war Sri Lanka. As the film is being edited, I will begin receiving the clips that I am to be scoring. In between writing riffs…

Yeahhhhh…..

Higgs Boson and New Gear.

I’ve got the main riff for the next track (which I’m titling “Higgs Boson”) and I’m hoping to have it finished within the next week. I’m not too sure if I’ll release it on its own or begin building a full album with it. Though, I’m pretty sure I’ll be calling the album Higgs Boson.

Anyway, I hopped on the subway yesterday, went down to Guitar Center on 14th st. and a picked up a new pair of Yamaha HS50M studio monitors. I don’t have to do everything through headphones anymore, which will be a lot easier on my ears and will help a ton with mixing. So, hopefully I can get a legitimate sounding bunch of songs in your hands within the next few months.

Plans

1.) I’ve finished recording all the music for a collaboration with Daniel Rinaldi (ex-bedlight for blueeyes). During the next two weeks he and I will be recording the vocals for it. Then I’ll mix, master and release it under the Stereo Stargazer name…it’s way different than the two instrumental songs I’ve released (Eyes || Stargazer). The song would to appeal the Jackson Browne crowd.

2.) I will begin writing a full Stereo Stargazer instrumental album once the song with Danny is finished. Expect around 10 tracks and I plan to have them all bleed into one another (I can’t imagine many of the tracks making sense on their own). Once I get started I’ll be able to give an accurate time-frame of its release…and probably comes clips along the way!

It’s all over…
